Dr. Luis C. Almeida has been playing the game of golf since he was 12 years of age. Born in a family of golfers with a tradition of winning open tournaments, Dr. “A” grew up understanding both the culture of golf and what is required to be a great golfer. In his golf career as an amateur, “Camillo” won 69 golf trophies and was ranked 1st in the state junior ranking three years in a row. He was also 2nd of the state amateur ranking for two consecutive years and was ranked in the top 10 best Brazilian amateur golfers in the 90’s for a number of years.

A master of golf tricks, Dr. “A” ended up playing for the Brazilian Junior National Team back in the 90’s and represented both his state and country in a few occasions. Dr. Almeida understands that feeling on the 18 when you need to birdie the last hole to go to playoff and eventually have the opportunity to win an open tournament because he has done that.

In the United States, Dr. Almeida played varsity golf at Slippery Rock University and in 2008, became Certified by the Professional Golfers Teachers Association of America (PGTAA) as a Class “A” Master Teaching Golf Professional. In 2010, Dr. “A” was hired to lead Waynesburg University’s Men and Women golf teams in the capacity of  Head Golf Coach and Assistant Professor of Communication. Dr. Almeida is the first Brazilian in history to be a Head Golf Coach in a NCAA affiliated institution in the United States, a mark he is pretty proud of. He has coached two Junior Brazilian golf champions. One played for Mississippi State and the other for Stanford University. He has studied professional development from Peak Performance Training to assists students with the mental side of the game.

Today, Dr. A serves as a private golf coach offering both mechanical and mental golf lessons for youngsters who want to learn how to compete at the highest level of competitive golf.


Almeida has studied Ben Hogan’s fundamentals of golf Swing, making him a very unique college professor in America. Perhaps, one of the very few PhD’s who happens to be a golf teaching professional in higher education.

Dr. A’s father, which was one of the very first Sports Journalists in Brazil and avid golfer himself, served as a golf management consultant to help with the completion of the first Olympic golf course ever made for the Olympics at RIO 2016.
