The verses are… Deuteronomy 31:6 ~ Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Proverbs 3:5-6 ~ Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.Lamentations 3:22-23 ~ The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
On March 31st, we closed on our house and finally settled in South Carolina, Lord willing for the long run. So, what is the issue with buying a house? There isn’t a direct issue per se but in an economic landscape where employment is at will, anytime that a professor buys a property, he is risking not being able to pay the mortgage if he loses his job or position. Buying is always a risky proposition for a college professor no matter how we see it in higher education, especially if the faculty member isn’t tenured.
What is the alternative, then? Live in an apartment your whole life? There is nothing wrong with living in a complex but there is an issue with the act of not purchasing a house because of how humans may behave and/or impact your lifestyle.
We are called to be strong and courageous! We are to believe that the Lord will take care of us when we give Him a reason to do so. Trust ladies and gentleman. Work and the Lord will provide in faith, I say. If you chose not to work, much struggle will go your way.
The good news is this all. The love of God never ceases. You can be sure that putting your chips in the Lord pays off. Calm down and celebrate. The Lord loves you and He is merciful.
Amen and amen.
