We need to be careful to stay silent in instances where God’s commands calls us to be vocal because this is our duty… “Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy” (Proverbs 31:9).
I heard this phrase (Sometimes silence is sin) after watching a video from Pastor Spencer Smith, pastor of an independent church in the state of Kentucky. How enlightening, I shall say.
Scripture is full of passages calling us to be vocal at times… Let’s also not forget what is written in Ecclesiastes, “A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak…”
If a false teacher is deceiving your brother or sister, and you know it, don’t be afraid to point it out to them and rebuke heresy. There are times when we must voice our opinions directly to do God’s work.
There is much heresy happening these days in the church, sometimes shared through rhetorical speeches and/or contemporary music. Be aware! It’s an epidemic! As soldiers of God, we need to speak up against heresies when we see them. Remember: Feel good churches are often bad in theology and doctrine, keep that in mind.

Do you attend a church where the pastor claims that you are a little god? Or that financial prosperity in life is a result of an upright life? Does your pastor ask your congregation for a new jet to evangelize the lost? Which music are you listening to in your church? Songs with a touch of eastern mysticism?
Be very careful. The devil does his work in disguise. Sometimes, silence is sin. It’s okay to be more assertive and voice your thoughts and opinions to defend the faith.
