I am not aware of anything in life, other than God, that is eternal. A conversation with our parents, the ability to walk and exercise, hearing the sound of a baby crying or a toddler smile, or even a boring night at home are life gifts. Because the former exist in a mortal earthly domain instead of an eternal and celestial one, we must do what we can to give thanks and recognize that the Lord provides all these opportunities to us.
Back in 2020, I got into a very serious car accident that could have killed me. The accident occurred in the month of July and to this day, I am still feeling the hard impact of that violent collision. My body still aches, my neck is very tight, my right eye isn’t the same anymore but I am alive, thank goodness. I thank God for the privilege to converse with my parents, walk and exercise, hear my daughter’s voice multiple times a day, and can afford to be at home having a boring day watching Netflix movies on the weekends.
I don’t live my life in fear and know that God helps me. I know that God is with me because it is written, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.” Isaiah 41:10-12. Faith in God assists us all with never taking what you have in life for granted.
We are all terminal. One day, we all are going to die. The little things we have in life aren’t going to be available to us forever. They are going to come to an end. Do you take anything for granted in life? Please don’t. We only live one life. Our time in here is finite even though our hope maybe infinite. Call your parents today! Spend some time with your kid instead of going hunting, go for a walk in the park or simply close your room door and watch the Rocky series today. Eat well and enjoy life, my brethren.
“I have concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they live, and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God.” Ecclesiastes 3:12-13.
Value whatever the Lord gives you.
