What You Think You Become

What you think you become… with reason. Aiming low or setting easy to attain objectives are likely to result in people loosing the opportunity to achieve much bigger goals in their lives. Don’t be like them! Dare to be different and dream high.

When I was a sophomore in college, I put in my mind that I wanna be a college professor one day, despite having a professor really discouraging me from becoming one. Luis, “Being a professor isn’t for everybody,” “There are other careers beside being a college professor” were things I’ve heard at age 25 by a department chair. I was a solid B student but not an A.

I chose to ignore her rhetoric and visualize me being a college professor in front of the classroom since I was a Junior in college at Slippery Rock University. I used to visualize being a professor at Clarion University while pursuing my doctoral degree at Penn State University, as well.

I convinced myself that the only option I had in life was to be a college professor. Literally.

I thought and I became. I focused, focused, focused… believed, believed, believed… visualized and did more visualization.

It became a reality to me. It can become a reality for you too.

Do the work! Dream, do the work, revise! Believe you can do it! Do more work and even more work. Think you can do it, visualize, daily.

Ladies and gents, what you think you become, with reason of course. My quest for becoming a college professor is a clear example of how your brain can turn a person into a winner or a loser depending on how they think.

Dare to be different and aim high. Believe you can! If you think hard enough and long enough, you become. I’m a witness of how well this method works.
