Not Doing Anything Makes Good People Guilty

There is no reason or excuse for anybody to allow racism to occur in any corporation, whether or not, a person claims to be For it or against it. In my book, when a person who claims to be against racism doesn’t do anything about it when an opportunity arises, he or she is guilty of being complacent, perhaps a racist him or herself.

I know a couple of people who fit this description precisely. They are all very nice, pleasant, and quite polite and on the surface, they are against racism. They are vocal about their views on racism and good people overall. However, when the time arises for them to really step up and do something about the issue, they just don’t. The bail out always finding an excuse for doing so. Many times, ironically, they align themselves with the same people who are racists themselves in order to gain more respect among them.

It’s a tragic reality that I’ve seen under the sun… in multiple states, under different circumstances, regardless of gender. Ladies and gentleman, racism in this country may be better than it was in the 60’s but it is still alive and well. It’s just displayed in a different form… it’s more subtle. To quote a former colleague of mine, “The KKK now wears a suit and a tie”

Not doing anything (about racism, for example) makes good people guilty of inaction. It’s a tragedy that perhaps will never cease to exist. I must say that I would rather talk with a racist heads on than speak with someone who pretends to be against racism but are de facto a racist in disguise him or herself.

Do you know people like these? I most definitely do. They are everywhere, I must add.
