Great Conversations Start Off-line

Great conversations start off-line. That’s why I don’t use my smartphone much in the cafeteria. Why risk being alone and connected when you can be meeting new people and conversing? Sherry Turkle once said, “I’m not anti-technology. I’m pro-conversation.”  So am I. A great conversation is meaningful to me especially when the company is top notch.

Today, I had the honor to speak with Michael (kaki pants) and two other students, Andrew and Liam. We spoke about the need to converse and make technology secondary to our relationship building. We had a tremendous hour long conversation. Some of the topics we discussed were: Relationship building and health. We left the cafeteria with a smile on our face and our smartphones in our pockets.

Our meaningful and insightful gathering was worthwhile and worth repeating. That’s for sure.
