Think Before Making A Vow To God

“When you make a vow to God, don’t delay fulfilling it, because He doesn’t delight in fools Fulfill what you vow. Better that you do not vow than that you vow and not fulfill it” (Ecclesiastics 5:4)

We need to be very careful with making a vow to God. Scripture is pretty clear about it. As children of God, we need to fear God and His commands. We need to obey and keep in mind that the good God is in control. Let’s not be impulsive. Rather, we should be rational and glorify God all the days of our lives. “Do not let your mouth bring guilt on you” (Ecclesiastics 5:6). We need to think before we act. Before making an actual vow to God, pray about it.

God is good, all the time.

  1. Great post, Dr. Almeida 🙂

Thank you for serving Our Lord. Your posts are great to read and very helpful. You’re making an immeasurably positive difference to so many lives. Keep it up!

Also, should “*his* commands” be “*His* commands”? And should the line “we need to obey and keep in mind that the good God *in on* control” be “…that the good God *is in* control”?

    God Bless,

  2. Hi Dr. A, my email shows that you follow my old link which is empty. I know it’s kind of confusing because the links look so similar. The old link is theshower(s)of blessing.wordpress.com, and the new link is
theshowerofblessing(s).wordpress.com. If you don’t mind, go to your Read. copy
OLD link – https://theshowersofblessing.wordpress.com – UNFOLLOW that link, then put in my
NEW link – https://theshowerofblessings.wordpress.com – click the blue follow button and it will turn green, showing you’re following.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for giving one more try. Miriam
