The Art Of Taking A Great Portrait

kids

Shooting group portraits can be quite fun. Some of us who are candid professional photographers enjoy taking photos that capture the true essence and feelings of the group, which in fact transcends the traditional Associate Press (AP) style of portraits, technique of “Counting on 3… 1, 2, and 3.”

There isn’t a magic solution for taking candid photos. What I do, is that I converse with the group first, put them at ease and when the expect the least… BAM. Photograph. Does it work? Hmmm, Yeah.

SO, if you want to take great group photographs, practice the art of interpersonal communication along with good old friendly and emphatic behavior. Technology helps but won’t by itself take group photos like the one above.
